COURSE INFORMATION

Course Topics:

Introduction to Landscape Architecture: An overview of the history, significance, and scope of landscape architecture. Students will explore the role of landscape architects in shaping the built environment and creating functional and aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces.

Site Analysis and Planning: Learning how to assess and analyze sites, including topography, soil conditions, climate, and existing vegetation. Students will develop skills in site inventory, analysis, and understanding how to use this information to inform design decisions.

Landscape Design Principles: Exploring the fundamental principles of landscape design, such as spatial organization, circulation, balance, proportion, and focal points. Students will learn how to create functional and visually appealing designs that address user needs and site constraints.

Planting Design and Horticulture: Understanding the selection and arrangement of plants in landscape design. Students will learn about plant identification, horticultural requirements, and how to incorporate plants to create aesthetic and sustainable landscapes.
