Selecting materials for a stone and mosaic sample board
A sample board helps a client or tutor compare materials, not only patterns. Record the stone or glass type if known, supplier, finish, size, source information and available care instructions. Arrange swatches so their surface and colour can be compared under consistent light. Keep a note of which information is confirmed by the supplier and which is still unknown.
Connect your sample choices to the intended interior and maintenance needs. Do not present a small sample as proof that the material will perform well in a large installation. Ask the project’s qualified professionals to review adhesives, substrate, moisture, wear and access because each can change the result.
