Artistic metalwork and structural fabrication are different
Artistic metalwork is concerned with form, surface, composition and the experience of an object or sculpture. Structural fabrication concerns components that must meet engineering requirements for a particular building, product or use. These areas can share tools, but a creative result does not prove structural capacity or qualify its maker to certify a load-bearing component.
Describe your work accurately and know when your project needs a suitably qualified or authorised specialist. Check applicable Kenyan requirements before you name a specific credential. For a hazardous practical activity, follow the institution’s approved process and supervision.
NITA Nairobi publishes technical trade-training information; KENCID offers Sculpture, Fabrication and Metal Arts & Sculptural Fabrication courses. Metal Arts develops artistic making skills; it does not qualify you to certify structures.
