Comparing fibreglass with other product materials
Do not compare materials by appearance alone. Define the product function first, then compare candidate materials against the same needs: shape, weight, finish, repair, availability, production route, maintenance and the evidence required. A sample may help evaluate colour or form, while other properties need a suitable test.
Fibreglass and composite processes require suitable facilities, handling controls and supervision. Avoid home experiments or generic recipes. A comparison table is a design aid, not a material certification. State what you observed and what a qualified specialist still needs to check.
The University of Nairobi’s Product/Industrial Design page provides context for material and production decisions. Explore KENCID’s Product Design course and apply related design thinking in your Mould and Composite Fabrication projects.
