Careers related to materials and product development in Kenya
You can apply materials and product-development knowledge in areas such as prototyping, product-design support, textile or surface development, quality documentation, production support and materials research. These are possible work areas, not guaranteed outcomes. Check each employer’s requirements for the material, product and level of responsibility.
A portfolio can make your contribution clear: show the question, source records, sample comparisons, prototype, feedback and what changed. Distinguish an exploratory classroom sample from laboratory testing or certification. Include collaboration, software or workshop skills only when you can demonstrate them, and check the credentials an employer expects for any specialist role.
The University of Nairobi's Product/Industrial Design page and NITA's Textile Training Institute show different parts of Kenya's design and materials landscape. At KENCID, study Materials Innovation & Product Development to focus on material testing and product prototyping.
